RESULTS: ARHFA Cowtown Classic

The 2024 Cowtown Classic took place in Fort Worth, Texas at the John Justin Arena from July 5 through 7 and hosted judged roping sanctioned by the American Rope Horse Futurity Association (ARHFA). The best way to bet the heat when roping in July is to head North or find an air conditioned arena, and these cowboys did just that.

As team roping continues to outgrow any other Western Performance Horse event, the futurity ropings are growing in popularity. They give ropers an opportunity to season young horses before heading to rodeos or jackpots and judge horses based on the proper execution of the roping run, not just speed. Many of these horses and ropers joined the American Paint Horse (APHA) World Show on Friday for the APHA sanctioned events, and are gearing up to head to Utah for another ARFHA event in a few weeks.

The upcoming event in Utah is offering up more added money than any previous ARHFA event. The $405,000 in added money has attracted the attention of Cowtown Classic champions Tate Kirchenschlager and Joseph Harrison who plan to take A Painted Sunshine and CR Better Be Tuff on the road to compete in Utah.
