Preslie Green and Taliate Leave Fort Worth NCHA Senior Youth National Circuit Champions

DATE POSTED:April 17, 2024

Marking a 222, Preslie Green and Taliate (Metallic Cat x Reytaliate x Stylish Rey) walked away from the Watt Arena at Will Rogers Memorial Center the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Senior Youth National Circuit Champions. Second out in the working order of five, the duo rode in just hoping to make a good run; and that’s what they did on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

“Going in, I was pretty nervous, which is pretty normal for me. But, my dad was helping me through what cows to cut and helping me show my horse. He played a pretty big part in it, too. We were hoping to cut some slower ones, and it all worked out,” Green said. “Waiting to see how it turned out, I didn’t know if I had it or not, but I was just really happy my horse was good and I showed good. That was all that really mattered to me.”

A 10-year-old red roan, Taliate just clicks with Green, and the two have won numerous shows. Now owned by Green, the team continues to shine.

“He’s helped me win a lot of things – lots of weekend shows, the Milt Bradford Scholarship in 2021. He’s helped me make World Finals and the scholarship finals at the Derby. He doesn’t like a lot of people, but we just seem to click,” Green said. “I started riding this horse in March of 2021, and he was owned by Bitterroot Ranch at the time. In October of 2021, we bought him from Bitterroot Ranch and put him in my name; and that’s been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Born into the cutting horse industry, Green has a great support system backing her and making wins like this possible, many of whom were there to watch and cheer her on. Looking ahead, the 16-year-old from Perrin, TX plans to continue growing and winning with Taliate.

“My dad’s a trainer, so I’ve pretty much been doing this since I can remember. I work really hard, and working so hard is the reason I got this horse. This win was really big for me. Most of my family was there watching me, and it means a lot to go out there and just do my job knowing he’s going to be good,” Green said. “We just got him to $300,000 in earnings, and that was a big goal of mine. I’m hoping to make Youth World Finals and Novice Non Pro Finals on him this year.”

Close behind Green, Riley Hope Farris and Play Purr View RG (Metallic Cat x Playgiarism x Freckles Playboy) came up just one point short with a 221. Following second place with a larger gap, Kaedyn Kaupke and Howlin Like A Cat (Cat Of Many Colors x Judys Pepto x Peptoboonsmal) finished third with a 216. Kate Roberson and Tuspot Shakur (Spots Hot x Karma Kat x High Brow Cat) ended up fourth, and Anna Martin and BTR Stylish Rey (Mandalay Rey x Babes Stylish Trick x Smart Little Lena) came in fifth.
