The Maryland Thoroughbred community is invited to gather in remembrance of longtime trainer Howard Wolfendale at a Celebration of Life Sept. 9 at Laurel Park.

JR Ranch's 3-year-old filly by Maxfield won her last two starts by a combined 12 1/2 lengths, including the Tyson Gilpin Stakes at Colonial Downs.

Doug O'Neill will run three from his stable in an effort to derail a tough pair from the Bob Baffert barn in the $300,000 Del Mar Futurity (G1) going 7 furlongs Sept. 6. Baffert will be going for his 20th victory in the grade 1 event.

Three-year-old filly Natural Fling will be placed in the deep end Sept. 5 when she takes on her elders in the Moir Stakes (G1) over 1,000 meters (about 5 furlongs) at Sandown Racecourse.

By all measures, the Canadian Premier Yearling Sale, held Sept. 2, produced the most successful results the sale has seen in years. A total of 145 yearlings sold for gross receipts of US$3,216,713.
