Careity Foundation Closes Chapter On Careity Celebrity Cutting

DATE POSTED:July 17, 2024

The Careity Celebrity Cutting held annually during the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Futurity in Fort Worth, TX., has come to an end, announced Careity Foundation Co-Founders Lyn Walsh and Beverly Branch.

“It has literally been a great ride for 30 years,” said CEO Lyn Walsh. “While our decision to no longer produce the Careity Celebrity Cutting is bittersweet, the backing of the National Cutting Horse Association over these past three decades has been nothing short of amazing. We are equally grateful to our many friends, celebrities and fans who have been so generous in their support.”

Celebrities who appeared in the cutting included Super Bowl champion quarterback Joe Montana, Grammy award-winning country music artists Kix Brooks, Lyle Lovett, Brad Paisley, Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker, legendary pro golfer Tom Watson, Dallas Cowboy Super Bowl champion Jay Novacek, country music star Cody Johnson, and, most recently, cast members from the popular Yellowstone and 1883 series.

President Beverly Branch noted that over the years the Careity-produced event has generated life-changing dollars to support Careity Foundation’s mission to provide early detection and direct care to cancer patients. All of Careity’s patient services are available in nine cancer centers and continue to expand throughout the North Texas area.

“When former NCHA Executive Director Henry Conley asked us to assume the management of the celebrity cutting and make it our own 30 years ago, we could have never imagined what a success it would become,” Branch said. “Now, we’re excited to take that formula for success into other fundraising efforts and look forward to seeing our many Fort Worth volunteers, friends and supporters joining us for Pink Day at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo January 28, 2025, as well as at other events throughout the year.”
