Cade McCutcheon and Outta Yur League take $100,000 home from Quarter Horse Congress Open Reining Futurity

DATE POSTED:October 8, 2024

The Celeste Coliseum at the All American Quarter Horse Congress was rocking on Saturday night, October 5. Twenty-five horse and rider teams vied for the All Star Futurity purse and the Open Reining Futurity purse, but Cade McCutcheon took both big checks aboard Outta Yur League (Spooks Gotta Whiz x Shesouttayourleague x Walla Walla Whiz), owned by Clark Reining Horses/ Frank and Suzanne Constantini, Richard Vernon and Tim Anderson for $100,000.

The buckskin stallion has been a consistent high scorer for McCutcheon. At the 100X Futurity, the pair marked the same score they did in the Congress go-round, a 222. The pattern on Saturday night added a maneuver which helped bump up the horses “usual” score to a 225.

“Since the beginning, he’s always had a presence about him,” McCutcheon said. “He’s been easy to train, he’s a good mover and I’ve always had high expectations for him. I went a notch faster in the finals, and there is one more maneuver, so the score was higher, but it was a consistent run for me.”

McCutcheon also piloted Americassecretweapon (Magnum Chic Dream x Americasnextgunmodel x Colonels Smoking Gun “Gunner”), owned by Freddie Brasfield, to third place and $17,871. The Aubrey, Texas, based trainer looks forward to the haul to Columbus, Ohio, annually. This year, bringing Outta Yur League was a bonus.

“The Friends of Congress and All Star Reining Stakes, they are going to try their best to put on a good horse show and there is really good money for us out here,” he said. “The Saturday night finals, they pack the stands, and it is a lot of fun. It’s good practice for major event finals because it is a big crowd and feels like a very big deal, and to pay $100,000 to win is a very big deal. Then, Tim Anderson, Rick Clark, Frank Constantini and Frank Vernon really love the Congress. They put a lot of time and money into the Congress, so it is fun to be able to win it for them. We come here to horse show for those guys, and I am glad it worked out like it did.”

In the Level 3 and Level 4 final field were three horses that survived the June fire at the Brant and Priest performance horses’ facility. Brandon Brant rode Trashd N Hollywood, owned by Anna Johnson, and Lenas Dunnit Again, owned by Bur Oak LLC, Julia Roschelli rode LG Killer Queen, owned by Lisa Gatt, showing their fortitude.

“It is a pretty unbelievable deal for them to still be competitive and push forward the way they have,” said McCutcheon. “It shows the kind of people Brandon and Julia are, and we knew they would push forward. To see them have the success they have had in the months since then has been amazing to watch.”

Up next for Outta Yur League is the National Reining Horse Association Futurity in November and December.
