21 Advance To 2024 Super Stakes Open Finals

21 horses make up the field for the 2024 National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) Super Stakes finals in Fort Worth, Texas and one stallion in particular sired eight of them.

The clean-slate finals, scheduled for Friday, Mar. 29, includes 21 horses hailing from top breeding programs and royal bloodlines. Leading the way into the finals is Jazlyn and James Payne, who marked the high score of 224 in the Open semifinals on Wednesday, Mar. 27 for owner Kathleen Moore. Other high marks from the Open semifinals were Breykin Bad (221) and Hottie Rey Von (220.5).

The stallion with the most progeny in this year’s field is 2015 NCHA Open Futurity Champion Stevie Rey Von, who had eight make the Open finals. The lineup also includes one offspring of 2023 EquiStat Top Western Performance Horse Freshman Sire, CR Gotcha Covered.

Per usual, the marepower is strong. This year’s field includes Breykin Bad, a stallion by EquiStat Elite $2 Million Dam Sweet Abra. Conor also made the finals, the stallion is out of recently deceased Cat O Connor, a producer of $688,667 according to EquiStat.
